Round 9 - GMBC/Greensborough Eagles v Research/Westgarth

 

Early in the season we had a convincing win over Research/Westgarth. Our second encounter was far from it and we just scraped in.

 

Fielding

We started in the field and Mitch Heywood did a great job on the mound, only conceding 2 runs after 3 innings.

Nice double play from Paul, catch from Mitch Ramsey and a throw down from Rambo behind the plate to 3rd.

They banked 7 runs in the 3rd innings, led by 4 at the top of the 4th and put us under the spotlight. 

 

Batting

After 2 innings, we were scoreless. In the 3rd we score 5. James, Rambo, Mitch and Paul all hit while Matt Weston, Claire 

and Matt Kelsey batted patiently and walked. At our last at bat we were down by 4 with 2 outs. 

A few walks and stolen bases saw us claw our way back. 

 

Research/Westgarth had their chances and we were lucky to come away with the win 11-9.

We have looked a bit flat the last few weeks. Enjoy the holidays (bye this week) and get ready for the derby against the Orioles.

and Marc Sandy  from the Orioles and Jacob Rizio from U17s.

 

Also Mitch Ramsay who will be playing in the Under 14 Diamond Valley Winter Championships in Wangaratta and 

recently returned from National Championships on the Gold Coast with the Under 12’s Diamondbacks.
