Round 4: GMBC/Greensborough Eagles v GMBC Orioles

The Derby had finally arrived between the Eagles and the Orioles.
It was a pleasant morning and just after 8.00am it started to fire up – that’s right,
the barbie was cranked up with the familiar aroma of good old fashioned snags.

In between eating snags it was hotting up and there was smoke on the diamond. When
it cleared, there were a few changes in the line up. James and Paul were “Eagles”,
John and Christian were “Orioles” and Leah joined the team.

Batting
1st dig, 2 runs, 2nd 7 runs and 3rd 3 runs
The Ramsey’s got us on the board in the 1st. Rambo with a double and Mitch with
a single. Bases loaded in the 2nd with no outs and Matt Kelsey jumps on one, off to 1st.
Mitch Ramsey hits a double and patient batting results in a 7 run innings.
James gets us started in the 3rd, Lachlan cracks one to centre field but is out
to a good catch.

Fielding
Mitch Ramsey pitched the 1st innings and Matt Stephens the remaining 2 and both did
a good job restricting a strong batting lineup to 8 runs. Several players had the
opportunity to play a number of different positions which gives everyone an opportunity
to learn new skills.

Round 1 of the derby goes to the Eagles.
Great to catch up with all members from both teams.
Thank you Bruce for supplying the barbie and cooking, Kim for scoring and
David for keeping the pitch count.
